Start small
You don’t have to go all cold turkey from one day to another (but hey you can if you want to!). Start by doing a few vegan meals or days a week. Try it out and see how you feel. Give yourself compassion and grace on this new journey to a healthier and more compassionate you.

Open your mind and get curious about trying new ingredients and recipes you have never even heard of before. I know, I know, its scary outside of your comfort zone. But honestly, that’s where we grow #newfave

Rethink protein
Its not at all so that all protein is animal based. Think about it, where do the animals get their protein from? Right, PLANTS! Start including beans, protein powders, tofu, tempeh, lentils nuts and seeds into your diet and you will be all good!

Go together! There are several Facebook and instagram groups and pages that are dedicated to new plant based eaters. Or why not do it with a family member or a friend?

Try new easy recipes
Like I already stated, change can be hard and scary. So maybe take it easy in the beginning? Chances that you will like and succeed with the food you are cooking are far greater if you start with something that is not going to be too complicated or over your head. Trust me, I have been there.

Know your why
& write it down and keep where you can see it as a daily reminder. Are you going vegan for your health? Because you love animals or because you are aware of how animal agriculture is destroying our only planet? Are you doing it to become the best at your sport? There are many reasons why, but yours is the one that is the closets to your own heart. Lean on it when it gets hard.

Ah yes, I know. Cheese is tasty and you can do a lot of things with it. But you know what? Dairy is extremely unhealthy, mucus forming and one of the worst animal cruelty practices on the planet. #notyourmothernotyourmilk kinda simple. BUT HEY DONT HATE ON ME! There are so many vegan options if this is the reason why you don’t want to go vegan. Just check these brands and these recipes out. I think I can honestly say that there is a vegan version of all your fave foods out there.

Reconnect to our earth and animal friends
Once you have seen the soul behind the eyes of a farm animal it becomes kind of hard to continue to eat them and pay for cruelty. Once you open your eyes to the immense pollution and destruction that the factory farms are causing all over the world you can no longer with a light heart go on like before. Or at least, this is my personal experience.

Always keep a snack handy.
Sometimes all you will be offered is a tomato and a side salad. Come prepared with snacks and let people know beforehand that you are vegan. It makes life a lot easier.
